Who?
Archaeologists find the evidence to help humans understand where we came from. Through continued search and study, Archaeologists help themselves and others around them to create theories that update our historical knowledge of events.
What?
Create a tri-fold brochure that discusses the job of archaeologists, and their research of Andean Mt. mummies of the Incas. This tri-fold brochure should include:
- Front page: Title, your name, picture, short description of what's inside
- Back page: Basic information about archaeologists including the many facets of their job
- Left and Right inside flap: Introduce Inca mummies of the Andes Mts. Include WHO they are, WHY they are there, WHAT problems archaeologists are facing saving Incan history, WHERE are the Andes Mts. located and WHERE the mummies are being found, WHEN are these mummies expected to have been left behind, and HOW are these mummies creating history today.
Where?
This project will focus on archaeological work being done within the Incan Empire along the West Coast of South America: spanning from Ecuador in the north, to Chile in the south, and as far east as the Amazon Rain-forest.
When?
Due Date: TBD
Why?
Andean mummies give us a glimpse into life in South America right before the arrival of Europeans. It is a very unique culture that flourished for a very short period of time because of the problems that followed the Europeans. Studying the Incas gives a very good idea about the first 100 years of European rule throughout the Americas - and not just in South America.
As a school, CPHS hopes to help students identify different jobs that are available. In history, many jobs cover a wide range of educational topics: science and astonomy, engineering, history, arts and culture, photography. These topics are applied to jobs as archaeologists, anthropoligists, professors and teachers, journalists, media professionals, museum curators, archivists, Nat'l Park rangers, tour guides, trip guides and much much more.

How?
Through reading, watching, and hopefully talking with a professional archaeologist in our classroom students will come to understand the difficult job of archaeology. Additionally, the material dealing with Andean mummies aligns with our second unit of the school year - Pre-Columbus Americas. This project, therefore, reinforces some of the material students are reading in the textbook. Assignments for this project are:
